Canadiens acquire defenseman Jason DeSantis from the Florida Panthers in return for Brendon Nash

MONTREAL – Montreal Canadiens general manager, Marc Bergevin, announced Monday the acquisition of defenseman Jason DeSantis from the Florida Panthers, in return for defenseman Brendon Nash.
The 26-year old DeSantis played 32 games with the AHL’s Hamilton Bulldogs and San Antonio Rampage this season. He registered 11 points (3 goals, 8 assists) and served 22 penalty minutes. The 5’11’’, 185 lbs has recorded 81 points (16 goals, 65 assists) in 183 regular season games in the AHL, with 106 penalty minutes.
A native of Oxford, Michigan, the USNTDP Under-18 product played four seasons, from 2004 to 2008, with the Ohio State Buckeyes totaling 60 points (16 goals, 44 assists) in 144 games.
Brendon Nash joined the Canadiens as a free agent on March 30, 2010. He played two games with the Canadiens in the NHL in 2010-11.
