44 players to take part in the Canadiens rookie camp

MONTREAL – The Montreal Canadiens announced Wednesday that 44 players will participate in the team’s rookie camp from September 12-16, at the Bell Sports Complex, in Brossard.
The first day of camp, this coming Friday, September 12, will be dedicated to physical testing and medicals. The first on-ice session will take place on Saturday, September 13. Also included in the rookie camp are: daily off-ice conditioning sessions, and three scrimmages.
Among the 44 players to take part in the rookie camp, are 26 forwards, 14 defensemen and four goaltenders. Seventeen (17) of the 44 players at camp are Canadiens draft picks, including five of the six players selected by the Canadiens at the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. Thirty-five (35) of the 44 players also participated in the Canadiens’ 2014 development camp last July.
All practices are open to the public. All players will be divided into two groups (A-B). Players participating in the rookie camp will be available daily to the media (approximately at noon time), except on Monday, September 15, the day of the Canadiens’ golf tournament. A photo opportunity will be given to the media during part of the physical testing on September 12, in the morning.
Schedule – Canadiens 2014-15 Rookie Camp
Friday, September 12: Medicals and physical testing (8 a.m. – 12 p.m.)
Saturday, September 13: On-ice practice sessions (8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.)
Sunday, September 14: On-ice testing (9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.) / Scrimmage (4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.)
Monday, September 15: On-ice practice sessions (10 a.m. and 12 p.m.) / Scrimmage (11 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.)
Tuesday, September 16: Scrimmage (11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.)
Annual golf tournament
The Canadiens will hold their annual golf tournament to benefit the Montreal Canadiens’ Children’s Foundation on Monday, September 15, 2014 at Club de golf Laval-sur-le-Lac (150, Les Peupliers, Laval-sur-le-Lac). Media availability with players and management will take place from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The shotgun start is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
Main training camp
The Canadiens’ main training camp will get underway on Thursday, September 18, 2014 when players will report for medicals and physical testing at the Bell Sports Complex in Brossard. Training camp will run until Tuesday, October 7, in preparation for the season opener against the Toronto Maple Leafs at Air Canada Center on Wednesday, October 8, 2014.
