Official Release: McIver, Macenauer Inked

MONTREAL, QUEBEC – Montreal Canadiens and Hamilton Bulldogs General Manager Marc Bergevin announced today the Bulldogs have signed forward Maxime Macenauer to a one-year American Hockey League contract as well as defenceman Nathan McIver to another 25-game professional try out contract.

In 23 games with Hamilton this season, Macenauer has recorded six points (two goals, four assists) and 14 penalty minutes. The 24-year-old spent the 2012-2013 season with the St. John’s IceCaps. In 68 regular season games with St. John’s, the Laval, Quebec native recorded 22 points (11 goals, 11 assists) and 57 penalty minutes. The 6’0”, 200-pound forward was originally selected by the Anaheim Ducks in the third round (63rd overall) in the 2007 National Hockey League Entry Draft. The experienced forward of 192 career AHL regular season games and 29 career NHL regular season games was signed by the Bulldogs to a 25-game professional try out contract on October 4th after attending training camp on a try out. This new contract is for the rest of the 2013-2014 season.

In 15 games with Hamilton this season, McIver has recorded one assist and 38 penalty minutes. The 28-year-old spent the 2012-2013 season with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. In 62 regular season games with Bridgeport, the Summerside, Prince Edward Island native recorded five points (one goal, four assists) and 287 penalty minutes. The 6’2”, 195-pound defenceman was originally selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the eighth round (254th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. The veteran of 422 career AHL regular season games and 36 career NHL regular season games was also signed by the Bulldogs to a 25-game professional try out contract on October 4th after attending training camp on a try out.

Hamilton’s next game is scheduled for tonight, Friday, December 13th, when they will host the Toronto Marlies (AHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs) at 7:30 p.m. at Copps Coliseum. Tonight is the ‘Dogs annual Toy Toss. Fans attending tonight’s game are encouraged to bring a stuffed toy to toss onto the ice after the ‘Dogs score their first goal. All the toys tossed will be collected and donated to the CHML/Y108/953 Fresh FM Children’s Fund, which gives the toys to local charities in the Hamilton Area. The game will be broadcast live in high definition on Cable 14.
