Patrick Marleau isn’t going anywhere for now

MARLEAU HOPES TO REMAIN A SHARK.
SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS: David Pollak reports Sharks captain Patrick Marleau hasn’t bothered to check with his agent Don Baizley about the validity of trade rumours swirling about him, and Baizley said he doesn’t get a sense that the Sharks want to trade Marleau. Sharks GM Doug Wilson has said for months he wants to re-sign Marleau to a contract extension and Pollak claims talks are ongoing.

Spector’s Note: I don’t doubt that some teams have contacted the Sharks to inquire into Marleau’s availability, but I don’t believe for a moment Wilson is shopping him. Wilson could change his mind by the trade deadline if Marleau isn’t re-signed by then but until then I think any talk of the Sharks trading their captain is bunk.
