Patrick Roy Fined for “Irresponsible” Behaviour

MONTREAL, QC. — Colorado Avalanche head coach Patrick Roy was fined $10,000 today by the NHL for his conduct at the end of the game Wednesday night. Colin Campbell, the NHL’s Senior Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations said, “Roy’s actions at the conclusion of the game were irresponsible. One of the responsibilities of an NHL coach is to help (defuse) volatile situations on the bench.”

Roy responded to the fine by saying, “This is the policy, and I understand it now, but at the same time, I will always defend my players.”
