TSN:
Sources tell TSN that the Anaheim Ducks are close to signing forward Corey Perry to a multi-year contract similar to the one that Ryan Getzlaf signed last season worth approximately $5.325 million per season.
The deal cannot be officially concluded until after noon eastern tomorrow. The Hockey News is reporting that Perry made it clear to the team that even if the deal is not completed by noon, he would not entertain any offer sheets from other teams when he officially becomes a restricted free-agent.
Perry led the Ducks with 29 goals last season and finished second to Getzlaf in team scoring with 54 points while picking up 108 minutes in penalties. He missed the last 12 games of the season and the first three of the playoffs recovering from a lacerated calf.
In 208 career games, the Peterborough, Ontario native has 59 goals and 64 assists.
Habster:
Don Meehan’s job just got that much easier while Bob Gainey’s task became a little harder!!!!
With the signings of Jeff Carter, Rostislav Olesz and soon to be announce Corey Perry, Meehan can use these contracts as strong guidelines for his negociations with Bob Gainey on Andrei Kostitsyn’s contract.
With the exception of Olesz, Kostitsyn had very similar stats as Perry and Carter and will try to get the same kind of money.
