If Max Pacioretty, Yannick Weber and P.K. Subban are included in any trade deadline deals it will be as an add on to acquire a good young player(s). I would be surprised if Pacioretty or Subban were dealt as Gainey dislikes giving away the future. Weber has the potential to be as good or better than his countryman, Mark Streit so it would be ashamed to lose him as well.
I love Ryan White and David Fischer as well but they don’t quite have the same potential as the other three. You might want to throw Olivier Fortier and even the talented but often injured Ben Maxwell into the mix as well.
The hardest thing to do as a GM or scout is to predict prospect potential in any sports…….it’s hard to make a judgement call on which prospect to trade/offer other teams but it can be a deal maker or breaker so it’s a necessary evil at times.
