2013 NHL Entry Draft – Montreal Canadiens First Round Pick

Sunday June 30, 2013

CURITIBA, BRAZIL — Puck the Bunny appears on All Habs Hockey Magazine predicting outcomes of games from his home in the beautiful country of Brazil. Yes, an exotic prognosticating bunny! In 2011-’12, his first season as a member of the All Habs team, Puck’s record was an amazing 23-12-6! This past regular season Puck’s record was a similar 22-13-4.

Puck_2Today he chooses the Canadiens first pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

With the Habs holding the 25th pick of the first round, there many variables making this prediction even more difficult.  Even GM Marc Bergevin doesn’t know what will happen.

“I have no idea [what to expect]. When you’re picking 25th there are a lot of things that can happen in front of you. Last year we only had two picks ahead of ours, so we had a good idea of where we were going. This is completely different.” — Marc Bergevin

Will Bergevin trade up for a player like Bo Horvat from the London Knights or will they trade down knowing they can still grab a solid forward like Justin Bailey from the Kitchener Rangers?  The possibilities are endless.

“We could have six [picks], we could have four or we could have eight. Everything’s possible. We’ll talk to teams about moving up or making some changes, but I think in the last two days before the draft is when teams will start really talking.” — Marc Bergevin

We narrowed the choices for Puck including Anthony Mantha from Val-d’Or (QMJHL), Samuel Morin from Rimouski (QMJHL), Kerby Rychel from Windsor (OHL) and Valentin Zykov from Baie-Comeau (QMJHL) in the selection.

So who did Puck choose?

With the 25th pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, the Montreal Canadiens are proud to select…
