Gatineau to open new multi-sports’ facility: A new sports’ centre has been in the plans for a long time, but last Thursday, the City of Gatineau and the Olympiques made it official with a Memorandum of Understanding.

These quality sports facilities will provide a better product for hockey fans. Thanks to its leadership in this project, the Government of Quebec allows Gatineau to develop quality infrastructure and the necessary tools to meet the challenges of the future. This upcoming multi-purpose centre will meet the growing needs of the Gatineau Olympiques and allow the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League to hold events in the city that contribute to the exposure of Gatineau and significant economic benefits for the city and its surroundings.”

Océanic win 11th straight: Named the VAUGHN goaltender of the month in the QMJHL, Philippe Desrosiers brought the Rimouski Océanic to their eleventh win in a row on Saturday, a 5-2 decision over the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. The win was Desrosiers’ 50th in an Océanic uniform and he now has a 27-13-3-4 record this season. The Océanic sit fourth in the standings, three wins from overtaking the Baie-Comeau Drakkar.

With the playoffs quickly approaching, several teams could still manage to make big jumps in little time…

They head up the Atlantic division with 85 points after taking home wins over Bathurst and Moncton, both of which featured hat tricks by Nikolaj Ehlers. Fucale, who made a combined 54 saves to win the two contests, leads all goaltenders with a 2.29 goals- against average and a .907 save percentage.

There, his spotlight was stolen by a fellow (and future) teammate, Jérémy Grégoire, who picked up two goals and an assist in a 5-1 win.
