 Game Recap:

The Canadiens found themselves down 3-0 to the Senators before the game was six minutes old. Peter Budaj wasn’t looking sharp and P.K. Subban was nailed to the bench already a minus-2. But the Habs led by Max Pacioretty stormed back with seven straight goals taking advantage of weak goaltending by Craig Anderson. Montreal gave up far too many shots but were fortunate that the Senators could not take advantage.

 Post-game Press Conference

186237429_slideCoach Michel Therrien

  • “Like we all saw, I don’t believe that [P.K. Subban] was ready to start the game. As a coach you gotta take a decision but I thought that he was better in the second and third.”
  • “We all knew that there was a lot of hockey to be played (after going down 3-0 early in the first period.) We didn’t get the start as we were looking for obviously but we showed a lot of character to tie it up in the first period. I thought after that it could have gone both ways.”
  • “We showed a lot of character to come back after we gave up three goals early in the game. This is something as a coach you always appreciate.”
  • “Even though the game didn’t mean much regarding the standings, we didn’t quit, and we proved that we want to be ready for the playoffs and we showed a lot of character to come back.”
  • “Our first goal is to make the playoffs and we achieved that. So where are we gonna end up to, I don’t know. But one thing I want to make sure is that we play solid and we play with passion and this is what our team showed tonight.”

Forward Max Pacioretty

  • “We knew that they had gotten the bounces early on, but obviously you look at the shots and we definitely got some favorable bounces and that’s just the way it goes some nights. But it just shows our last two games against them, you’re never down and out.”
  • “[Scoring 35 goals] is nothing magical, I want to improve every year.”

Forward David Desharnais

  • “[Max Pacioretty] is an animal. He scores every chance he’s got and I don’t expect less from him. He’s a great guy, a great leader, and that’s what we need from him. All the credit to him.”

Senators forward Zack Smith

  • “It’s hard to say that we stopped playing, but we didn’t play the game we wanted to. We gave them too many chances, they had a lot of room in front of the net and a couple of box-outs; the list goes on.”

Senators forward Kyle Turris

  • “They got a lucky first one, it looked like, and the momentum started to swing and we couldn’t stop it.
