 Game Recap:

There was an injury scare early in this game: Max Pacioretty went awkwardly into the post after being shoved by Brett Bellemore and was out for the rest of the night. Pacioretty confirmed after the game that he would be heading to Sochi for the Olympics.  With the Hurricanes outshooting the Canadiens, it was left to Carey Price to carry the team to victory.

  • “I was just hoping that [Max Pacioretty] wasn’t going to have injuries because you want your players to participate in the Olympics. So I was glad when I heard that he wasn’t injured that bad. It’s good news. It’s good news for him especially.”
  • “Ask the players who are facing a lot of distractions as 30 teams have this week. We responded the right way. We showed a lot of leadership. We’re not counting on two or three guys. Every guy who steps on the ice has to be a leader in his own way.”
  • “Even if [the Carolina Hurricanes] scored the first goal. I believe that’s when we started playing our game. We leave the building with a big two points.”
  • “[Ryan White and Dale Weise] have been really good. They add some depth to our lineup. Ryan White played a solid game scoring his second goal of the season. Obviously it was a big one for us. And Weise did a good job. He’s skating well, killed some penalties, he played the right way. I really liked the way that they played.”
  • Carey Price gives us a chance to win every night. Everytime he’s out there, we think that for sure he’s ready for the Olympics. He plays with a lot of maturity. He’s confident, he’s calm and the way that he’s playing, he gives the team confidence that we’re going to be able to win a hockey game. He’s been phenomenal again tonight.”

Forward Max Pacioretty

  • “I went in a little bit awkwardly. I banged up my arm and my hip. I was very worried at first. It was tough to breath and I was having (back) spasms. Once that went away, I was feeling a lot better. I got a lot of treatment during the game and I’m feeling a lot better. I think I got lucky. It could have been a lot worse.”

Hurricanes Coach Kirk Muller

  • “I thought we had some guys tonight who played well, but we didn’t have everybody on board. That doesn’t cut it in this League. It was disappointing because some of the guys didn’t bring their ‘A’ game tonight.”
