 Game Recap:

The Canadiens were bottled up all game long by the Kings. They top two lines failed to generate scoring chances and were anemic on the power-play. Jarred Tinordi continued to play very well even trading blows with Kyle Clifford.  Peter Budaj was an interesting combination of entertaining, terrifying and lucky. But he battled hard despite giving up one soft goal and another that could have been stopped.

 Post-game Press Conference

186237429_slideCoach Michel Therrien

  • “Tonight we played against the best defensive team in the league and it showed. They play a solid defensive game. When you lose the battle of special teams, it always hurts.”
  • I didn’t like our special teams tonight.  Penalty kill needs to be better, power play needs to be better. Power play was good lately, but tonight we didn’t generate enough.
  • “You got to give them credit. They’re a good team. They’re a good team to kill penalties and they’re not easy to play against.”

Goaltender Peter Budaj

  • ”I read it there (on the Kings second goal scored by Jeff Carter.) I read that play. I was there, and the puck went right through my body, through the seven-hole. It was unfortunate because I felt I was right there.”

Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick

  • “You want to make it as tough as possible for the other teams to score, and I think we did a great job of that tonight on the penalty kill and 5-on-5.  We didn’t give up much. We didn’t give up many opportunities. We want to stick to playing that way.”
