Game Recap:This game was a snoozer for 40 minutes. After Monday night’s game in Boston, the Canadiens were physically and emotionally spent. The power-play was simply awful. Carey Price was solid making the saves until his team got on track in the third. It wasn’t a pretty win but the Habs did what they had to do when it counted to pick up the two points. Price recorded his fifth shutout of the season.

- “It’s crucial to get depth. A lot of things could change quick as we can see. So that was a good line for us with Prusty (Brandon Prust), with (Travis) Moen and (Dale) Weise but obviously they aren’t there, they can’t play. I didn’t mind that line tonight with (Lars) Eller, (Michael) Bournival and (Ryan) White, I thought they did a great job. Spending some time in the offensive zone, this is what we’ve been asking for those guys and they did a good job.“
- “We keep playing the way we want to play. We’re resilient. Like tonight the thing that I liked about our team is we didn’t change because the score was 0-0. We stuck to the game plan. We were resilient the way we were playing and we got rewarded. We were facing a good young goalie tonight. (Matt) Hackett played really well for them, gave them a chance to stay in the game. But we didn’t change from our game plan and that’s why I am satisfied about tonight’s game.“
- “At this time of the year it’s not about your opponent. We understand that there are games that are more emotional, obviously the one we just played in Toronto, the one that we played [Monday] night in Boston. Our goal is to make the playoffs. We know that we are part of those teams that are going to battle to the end and tonight was two points. It was not about the Buffalo Sabres, it was about us and to make sure we played the right way, the way we’re supposed to play to pick up those two points.”
- “[Monday] night was different because we lost two players early in the game and we only had 10 forwards so tonight we did like we usually do and go with four lines. We’re a four line team and this is the reason we could be sharp and play with intensity so for us tonight it was more easier to manage the bench than yesterday.”

- “The whole week before starting on Saturday we were talking about the games in Toronto and Boston, two big rivalry games, especially the game in Toronto that we absolutely needed. We win in Toronto, then it’s an emotional game in Boston. Tonight was kind of the forgotten game. Nobody really talked about it; it was against the last-place team. It seemed like the easy game of the bunch, but actually it was really tough.”

- “This is a very important time for us. Everybody’s trying to make the playoffs and to pick up points against divisional teams and play well is definitely a confidence builder.”
Sabres goalie Matt Hackett
- “I think that was pretty special, especially in this arena. This is a tough arena to play in; the fans are basically right on top of you the whole time. It was a pretty cool experience, and I’ll remember it for a long time.”
