 Game Recap:

Francois Beauchemin ringed a puck around the glass to start a power-play rush in the second period. Goaltender Dustin Tokarski ignored the scouting report about bad boards to try to play the puck behind the net. It hit a stanchion and found the goal. The hockey gods repaid the debt during the shootout as Kyle Palmieri’s shot went off both posts but didn’t cross the line. Despite being outplayed the Habs found a way to win with Andrei Markov scoring the game-winner.

 Post-game Press Conference

186237429_slideCoach Michel Therrien

  • “[Dustin Tokarski] was outstanding. He made some keys saves at the right time.”
  • “When we started the game, the players dictated the game again tonight. I liked our effort. We didn’t play well in the second period but we really bounced back in the third period.”
  • It was [Dustin Tokarski‘s] first game with the Montreal Canadiens. We didn’t want to tell him (that he was starting) last night so we want to make sure that he gets a good sleep. We only told him this morning. And he played really well.
  • “We gain confidence playing [top] teams. I thought that we played a good game in L.A. Again tonight, we played a really solid game. I think for the confidence of our hockey club it’s always good to be able to perform against a great hockey team like them.”
  • “[The Anaheim Ducks] play really well. They’re the best team in the league. We found a way tonight to win this hockey game.”
  • We decided to put George (Parros in the lineup.) He won a Stanley Cup here. He’s really well respected here in Anaheim. That was a classy move by the Ducks about they did what they did for George Parros.”

Goaltender Dustin Tokarski

  • ”It’s a whirlwind. I tried to lay down for a couple of hours of sleep, but I was just thinking the whole afternoon. I didn’t get much [sleep]. It was a great day.”
  • “I made an error. I should have stayed in my net. The scouting report said there was bad glass. Lapse of judgment there.”

Ducks forward Kyle Palmieri

  • “They took it to us in the first period, but I think the last 40 minutes, we played pretty well. It’s one of those things that we’ve been struggling a little bit with our consistency. Going into our next game, we want to get off to a good start, because usually when we do that we play pretty well.”
