Game Report

Don’t look now but the Canadiens are road warriors. Montreal, bolstered by thousands of fans in Western Canada, have won the first two games of the pre-Christmas road trip. The overtime win in the Saddledome brought the Habs’ road record to 9-4-3, which is eighth best in the league.

Now if they only had a winning record at home!

With seven straight away games to close out the 2019 calendar, Montreal seems to be comfortable with the road life. It wasn’t a great start tonight as the Flames scored seven minutes in and added a power-play goal with just 7.4 seconds left in the first period.

But with a dominant second frame, Montreal fought their way back to tie the game. Brendan Gallagher and Joel Armia provided the scoring and Carey Price shutting the door. After the two teams traded goals in the third period, Max Domi provided the game winner, his first goal in 12 games, with a perfect shot past David Rittich.

Habs fans are on the positive side of the rollercoaster enjoying a 6-2-0 record in the last eight games after going winless in their previous eight.

After the game the Canadiens flew to Edmonton where they will face the Oilers on Saturday.
