The combination of many factors have handcuffed Darcy Regier’s ability to sign key players like Chris Drury, Daniel Briere and possibility Brian Campbell.
Prior to this season, Regier was forced to sign Tomas Vanek to a hugely inflated salary and is financially restricted by Buffalo ownership’s tight fiscal ways. You would have to think that Regier might be willing to trade some of these players for something less than market value in order to get Campbell signed to a long term contract.
