The Kings scored twice in 19 seconds midway through the first period to take a stranglehold on this game. Los Angeles had a dominant opening frame outshooting their hosts 16-to-5. For the first 40 minutes, Kirby Dach was back at centre looking quite comfortable in his natural position. But needing some offence, Marty St. Louis reunited Dach with his first line mates, Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield. The Kings extended their lead in the third period. Montreal briefly made a game of it with goals by Mike Hoffman and Caufield. But an empty-net goal sealed this game. The Canadiens looked sluggish throughout having been idle since Tuesday. A revamped lineup to adjust for injuries seemed to cause confusion and missed coverage. This was the second game this season for the powder blue Reverse Retro 2.0 jerseys. In their only other appearance, the Canadiens were beaten 5-1 by the New Jersey Devils. Up NextThe Canadiens are back in action on Monday night as they host the Calgary Flames at the Bell Centre.Plus▲ Mike Hoffman, Kaiden Guhle, Kirby DachMinus▼ Arber Xhekaj, Chris Wideman, Joel Armia, Evgeni Dadonov, Nick Suzuki, Rem Pitlick, Michael Pezzetta, Juraj Slafkovsky, Christian DvorakGame PreviewCheck out the game preview here: Hoffman Returns | PREVIEW: LAK @ MTL |
