Game Report

The Canadiens continue to get players back from the infirmary. Tonight Jake Evans was centering the third line after missing 28 games with a lower-body injury. Evans played 12 minutes of ice time including 2:52 on the penalty-kill.

Montreal clearly won the special teams battle scoring twice on the power play with goals from Nick Suzuki and Kirby Dach. What’s most impressive is that the Bruins penalty killers are ranked number one in the league.

Yet it was the Canadiens 31st-ranked penalty killers who nullified five Bruins power plays.

Boston got all of their scoring done at regular strength including David Pastrnak getting close to the 50-mark.

It was a spirited game quite in tune with the Montreal – Boston rivalry. Numerous minor penalties, a major, a game misconduct and a possible suspension were all part of tonight’s clash.

The Canadiens and Bruins will meet again on April 13th for the final game of the regular season for both teams.

Up Next

From playing the best team in the league, the Canadiens head home to face the worst team in the league. The Columbus Blue Jackets will be at the Bell Centre on Saturday night.

After the game, the Canadiens announced that Josh Anderson will miss the remainder of the season due to a high ankle sprain.

What Did They Say?

Post-game Quotes

Marty St. Louis

  • “I’m proud of the group. Physically and mentally, we were connected. Guys play like warriors, even in a context where we won’t go to the playoffs. This is how we will grow as a team, by the end of the season.”

Bruins coach Jim Montgomery

  • “You gotta give credit to those guys. We find ways to win hockey games.”
