MONTREAL, QC. — The Montreal Canadiens made a move today putting defenseman David Schlemko on waivers. The Edmonton native had only played 18 games this season. After being placed on injured reserve, Schlemko has been in the lineup since December 20th against the Arizona Coyotes.
This season, Schlemko has tallied two assists in 18 games with a minus-1 rating. He carries a $2.1 million cap hit with a contract through the 2019-’20 season. The 31-year-old played in Laval this season during a conditioning stint recording one point in three games with the Rocket.
Schlemko finished last season with one goal and five points in 37 games.
