One-year two-way contract for Philip Samuelsson

MONTREAL – Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin announced on Saturday that the team has agreed to terms on a one-year, two-way contract with free-agent defenseman Philip Samuelsson.
Last season, Samuelsson spent the majority of the year playing with the Springfield Falcons, the AHL affiliate of the Arizona Coyotes. In 56 games, the Leksand, Sweden native amassed 27 assists and 31 points. He also served 52 penalty minutes.
Samuelsson was drafted in the second round, 61st overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2009. He has 13 games of NHL experience sporting the colors of both the Penguins and the Coyotes.
He is the son of Ulf Samuelsson, who played 1,080 games over the course of his NHL career with the Whalers, Rangers, Red Wings, Flyers and Penguins.
