BROSSARD – Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin announced on Friday that the team has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with free agent goaltender Al Montoya.
The 31-year-old Chicago native spent the last two seasons with the Florida Panthers, most recently posting a 12-7-3 record, a 2.18 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage in 25 games during the 2015-16 campaign.
Montoya has compiled a 55-40-18 record in 136 games – including 110 starts – since making his NHL debut with the Phoenix Coyotes in 2008-09. He’s also suited up for the New York Islanders and the Winnipeg Jets.
