PENTICTON, BC. – The writing has been on the wall for a while and everyone was expecting the Colorado Avalanche to trade Ryan O’Reilly. Minutes before the Draft, Tim Murray and the Buffalo Sabres have successfully landed the 24 year old center/winger along with rugged winger Jamie McGinn.
The price was substantial however, as Buffalo gave up Nikita Zadorov, Mikhail Grigorenko, J.T. Compher and the 31st pick to get them. Patrick Roy knows Grigorenko, having coached him in Quebec in the QMJHL.
