An excerpt from TSN:

The Buffalo Sabres re-signed goaltender Ryan Miller to a five-year, $31.25 million contract extension on Friday.

Entering the final year of his current contract this season, Miller will now remain the club’s franchise netminder through the 2013-2014 season.
He will earn $3.5 million next season.

Miller, 28, appeared in 76 games last season, posting a record of 36-27-10 with a 2.64 goals-against average and a .906 save percentage. He also earned his 100th career victory on February 10 against Florida.

Habster:

This is a rarity, the Sabres locking up one of their key players to a long term deal at over $6 million per year!!!

Finally, some positive off-ice news for the loyal Sabres fans to cheer about after years of letting talented players like Briere, Drury and Campbell leave town without a commitment to the fans.

Ryan Miller is a solid goaltender who arguable is a top 10 goalie in the NHL. The Sabres and Lindy Ruff will be leaning heavily on Miller once again for the 2008-09 season.
