Sens inaction is puzzling

An excerpt from Don Brennan’s article in the Ottawa Sun:

The team’s response thus far to a tailspin that saw it barely qualify for the playoffs, then leave quickly and quietly under the guidance of the Pittsburgh Penguins?

Replacing one of the all-time leaders in coaching victories with a man who has not been a bench boss in the NHL yet this century, adding a backup goalie and third- or fourth-line winger.

Okay, so that’s not all they’ve done.

The Senators have also bid farewell to the best defenceman in franchise history, the only goalie that ever took them to the Stanley Cup final and one of the best fighters in the Eastern Conference.

Just as it was time for Wade Redden, Ray Emery and Brian McGrattan to move on, GM Bryan Murray needs to soon do something to improve his lineup. His options are running thin.

Habster:

As Don Brennan stated in his article, there are some available options for Bryan Murray to add a puck moving defenseman. The players aren’t as attractive as Campbell or Boyle but players like Kevin Bieksa and Trevor Daley would be good fit in the Sens lineup.
Murray will have to be willing to move a decent roster player or a very good prospect with a draft pick to pry away Bieksa or Daley from their respective teams.
