Below are excerpt from the Hamilton Spectator article by Garry McKay who interviewed Canadiens shooting instructor, Tim Tuck who was working with Bulldogs players to improve their shots:
“For me this was great. I always watch tapes and see how guys skate and how they shoot the puck” said Yanick Lehoux “You always try and get better and if you get just a little something different that gets you four, or five, or six more goals it might mean four, five or six more wins a year. Little details in the long run can make a huge, huge difference.”
Tuck, under contract to the Canadiens, has already had sessions with the Habs’ young prospects during the summer and again at their rookie camp. Yesterday was the first of several times he will be in to work with the Bulldogs.
“We’re trying to add more technique to their arsenal and have better choices for them,” Tuck said. “At this level, you want to speed up their release. If you can speed up your release, you’re giving yourself more opportunities to score. We also want to work on their reaction times. If you have total body control when you’re shooting the puck you can ultimately have good reaction times. We’re also trying to add quickness, power and accuracy to their shots as well.
