Some Quick Rumours

Excerpt from Hockeybuzz.com:

This email from a source in New York…

“Mats Sundin WILL return to the NHL and not to the Maple Leafs. However he wants to stay in Canada and in the East. The Canadiens are preparing a major offer, although Dan Alfredsson is making a big pitch as well. Look for Sundin to see who is taking over in Ottawa as coach before making his decision. I do expect one more minor pitch from Toronto, but nothing to come of it.”

Habster:

If you read the above article, there is also another stupid Vinny Lecavalier rumour about the Canadiens “structuring future contracts” based on Vinny coming to Montreal in the future…….gimme a break!!!

Lecavalier is staying in Tampa Bay and I’ve been hearing through very reliable news sources (one of them isn’t Eklund, I can guarantee that!!) that he will be signing a long term contract with the Lightning very soon.

Here’s an excerpt from a recent article (Players Remain Optimistic) written by Tampa Tribune beat writer Erik Erlendsson who spoke to Lecavalier:

Out with the old and in with the new won’t affect Vinny Lecavalier’s commitment to the Lightning.

Despite a pending change in ownership and a certain change in head coaches, Lecavalier said he intends to discuss signing a long-term deal that could keep him with Tampa Bay his entire career.

“I want to. I just think they want to wait to be officially in charge before we talk about it,” Lecavalier said Tuesday. “I’m looking forward to the new owners. They have a passion for the game. Oren Koules and Len Barrie have played the game. I’m encouraged about the new owners, and I’m excited about things.”
