Marian Hossa is heading to the Montreal Canadiens before the NHL trade deadline, an executive within the league said Monday night.
Montreal GM Bob Gainey, who appears to have outbid the Ottawa Senators for Hossa.

I don’t know who this “executive” is within the NHL but don’t count your eggs until they’re hatched Canadiens fans…….anything can happen on trade deadline day especially when teams see their rival about to get a top line player like Marian Hossa, it ups the ante and makes general managers do unthinkable things like sweetening their deals. Don Waddell hopes this is the case and that other teams will better their offer before he finalize any trade with Montreal.
The Yahoo article also mentions Ryder as part of the deal but there will have to be a lot more to the offer(another roster player, a blue chip prospect and a 2008 or 2009 draft pick (1st or 2nd rounder))
