One thing I can tell you on good authority: At least two teams — the Detroit Red Wings and the Montreal Canadiens — will throw mega-bucks, and multi years, at Sundin if his name is not on a new Maple Leafs’ contract by July 1st. Perhaps a dozen other clubs will be in the mix, but the Wings and Canadiens will go after him, big-time. We aren’t at the trade deadline, or in the second week of April, anymore. The busiest and most important juncture of the NHL off-season is now less than three weeks away, and decisions about the ’08-09 campaign are on the immediate horizon… for players and management.
