Habs Sign Forward Gabriel Dumont to 2-year Deal

MONTREAL – Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin announced wednesday the signing of forward Gabriel Dumont to a two-year, two-way contract (2013-14 and 2014-15).

Dumont, 22, recorded three points (1 goal, 2 assists) in 10 games with the Canadiens in 2012-13. He registered 21 hits and 20 shots on goal, served 13 penalty minutes and maintained a +1 plus/minus differential, while playing an average of 9:40 per game. Dumont added 31 points (16 goals, 15 assists) in 55 games with the AHL’s Hamilton Bulldogs. He led the Bulldogs in points (tied with Nathan Beaulieu) and goals.

The 5’10’’, 189 lbs forward has played 13 regular-season games in his career with the Canadiens in the NHL. Since his professional debut in 2010-11, Dumont has collected 73 points (34 goals, 39 assists) in 178 regular season contests with the Bulldogs in the AHL.

A native of Ville Dégelis, Quebec, Dumont was selected in the fifth round, 139th overall by the Canadiens at the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
