MONTREAL, QC. — The evolution of Emelin BOOM.
December 6, 2011: Columbus Blue Jackets 3 Montreal Canadiens 2 (OT)
P.K. Subban on Alexei ‘Boom’ Emelin’s nine hits in game:
“I love it, I really do. I’m trying to teach him to start smiling after he hammers guys because the whole league is going to start hating him soon. It’s just fun to watch him just crush guys out there. You always heard that he’s a physical player but to see him lay out guys the way he’s been doing has been awesome!”

Via Twitter: @SportsStache: “Have to give credit to Mark in Ottawa. Brought up BOOM thing on the show this afternoon and we ran with it. Part of a bit we were doing.”
Lady E: So what was the bit you were doing?
Randy Tieman: After a negative Monday and a negative Tuesday, I decided no more negatives on Martin and Gauthier. We need some positives. We had Carey Price’s big glove save, and Emelin with nine hits in the game.
Shaun Starr having gone to the game the night before felt that people wanted to chant something.
We needed a chant, even a nickname for him. We opened up the phone lines and Mark called in and said people should say BOOM every time Emelin makes a big hit.
Imagine if the over 21,000 people waited one second and then yelled BOOM.
Via Twitter: @CanadiensMTL: Let’s get #emelinboom trending! Tweet it and yell BOOM when Alexei levels another opponent.
Via Twitter: from @TrendsmapCanada: December 7, 2011: Randy Tieman, @SportsStache is now trending in Canada
Lady E: How do you feel about the fact that you were trending on that day, Canada wide?
Randy: It’s pretty cool. Imagine if it caught on!

Via Twitter: @SportsStache: I think I heard a bang. No Boom. Baby Steps. Still think it would be incredible if it happened. Go to Fenway. U’ll understand.
Lady E: You likened it to what goes on at Fenway Park. Is it Neil Diamond’s song “Sweet Caroline” that is played in the 8th inning or when the crowd chants “Yoooouk” when first baseman Kevin Youkilis steps up to the plate?
Randy: The Neil Diamond song. Once the song finishes, the crowd instantaneously continues by chanting “So Good, So Good, So Good”. That’s what we need something for people to catch on to. It’d be an instantaneous thing.
Lady E: Wouldn’t if be amazing if people started bringing placards to the game that simply had BOOM written on them.
Randy: Yeah, that’d be pretty cool!

Via Twitter: @BrianWildeCTV: I have a friend at game in NJ and he says two groups of #habs fans are actually yelling BOOM on Emelin hits. Too funny.
