Therrien, MacLean, Prust Set the Stage for Habs, Senators [VIDEO]

MONTREAL, QC. — Jeff Halpern, Gabriel Dumont and Colby Armstrong will have the big skates to fill tonight in the absence of Lars Eller, Max Pacioretty and Brian Gionta. Eller was released from hospital today and is resting at home. He sustained a concussion, facial fractures, loss of consciousness and had teeth knocked out. He will consult with a specialist before undergoing procedures for his facial fractures. Eller’s family, who were in attendance at the game, are reportedly still in shock.

Pacioretty and Gionta are listed with upper body injuries. Full playoff game 2 preview is available here.

Michel Therrien referenced Senators coach Paul MacLean’s post-game comments particularly addressing his lack of respect for Eller, his injury and his family. “I’m not allowed to comment on that hit. One thing I can do though is comment on MacLean’s comment. Inappropriate comment. No respect for the player on the ice who was bleeding. No respect for his family in the stands.”

Brandon Prust went further saying “I don’t care what that bug-eyed, fat walrus has to say.” Travis Moen said that the Canadiens must now “put their trust in the league” to do the right thing.

The NHL responded suspending Eric Gryba for two games in a decision by the NHL Department of Player Safety following a phone hearing at noon today. Gryba sent Habs forward Lars Eller to the hospital after a dangerous hit to the head in Thursday night’s game. Video and photo gallery can be found here.
