As we have discussed the team has struggled to generate offence at 5-on-5. That trend continued again tonight. The Senators dominated the first period at even strength with shot attempts 19-7 in their favor. Montreal did not record a high-danger scoring chance in the opening frame and just managed two high-danger scoring chances in the second period. The good news is that the listless Montreal power-play came to life scoring twice on five chances. And a dose of Rafael Harvey-Pinard playing cleanup around the Ottawa net helped bring the Habs even. But Brady Tkachuk played hero with the help of David Savard’s skate to give the Senators their fourth straight win. The Canadiens have lost four straight and are winless in seven games wearing their powder blue retro reverse jerseys. Up NextThe Canadiens have hit the 10-day pause in their schedule. They will return to the ice for a matinee contest on February 11 versus the New York Islanders at the Bell Centre.Plus▲ Nick Suzuki, Rafael-Harvey Pinard, Mike Hoffman, Kirby Dach, Josh AndersonMinus▼ Rem Pitlick, Arber Xhekaj, David Savard, Christian Dvorak, Michael Pezzetta, Alex Belzile, Evgenii Dadonov, Chris WidemanGame PreviewCheck out the game preview here: Allen to Start | PREVIEW: OTT @ MTL |
