Tomas Plekanec earns Molson Cup honour for January

MONTREAL  – Tomas Plekanec is the Molson Cup recipient for the month of January. Plekanec succeeds to Carey Price, who earned the honour for each of the first three segments of the Molson Cup in the 2010-11 season.

Tomas Plekanec received 2,014 fan votes in the Molson Cup standings in January. Plekanec finished ahead of teammates Carey Price (2,002 votes) and Max Pacioretty (1,734 votes).

The 28-year old forward led the team in scoring with nine points (5-4-9) in 11 games in January, including a team-high of five goals. Two of his goals were scored on the power play and he scored the winning goal on January 21 in Ottawa. Plekanec maintained a +4 plus-minus differential.

Tomas Plekanec will be presented with the Molson Cup during a ceremony prior to Wednesday’s game against the Florida Panthers at the Bell Centre.
