Habster’s take:
Terry Jones is not the only person who thinks this was the greatest hockey game ever played. I would change that statement to: the greatest game ever played by the Montreal Canadiens. I emphasize the Montreal Canadiens simply because they dominated (outshooting Red Army 38-13) every phase of the game except goaltending (if Dryden had played better and Tretiak not stood on his head the entire game, then the Habs would have buried Red Army).
I can still remember anxiously awaiting the game throughout the week and finally sitting in front of the TV as a 10 year old being totally consumed by the action. It certainly was a special night of hockey in the old Forum that will be remembered by all habs fans.
