Notables at the camp include newly-minted captain Nick Suzuki, 2022 number one pick Juraj Slafkovsky and Kirby Dach, acquired in the off-season. It is the first training camp for Martin St. Louis as head coach of the Canadiens.

The list includes forward Paul Byron, defenceman Logan Mailloux and goaltender Carey Price who are on the injured list but will be in Brossard.

Four players will take part in the training camp on a professional tryout: forward Pierrick Dube (Shawinigan Cataractes), forward/defenceman John Parker-Jones (University of Windsor) and goalkeepers Antoine Coulombe (Shawinigan Cataractes) and Riley Mercer (Drummondville Voltigeurs).

On-ice testing will take place on Thursday with the first intra-squad games being played on Friday. The annual Red – White game will take place on Sunday at the Bell Centre.

Player Development Additions

Since arriving with the Canadiens organization, Jeff Gorton and Kent Hughes have repeated their commitment to bolster the player development department headed by Rob Ramage.

Reportedly, Canadiens pro scout Nick Carriere will also be joining the player development  group as well as newly-hired Scott Pellerin. The 52-year-old Pellerin spent seven years in player development with the Toronto Maple Leafs before becoming a pro scout with the Arizona Coyotes last season.

Subban Retires

Former Canadiens defenceman P.K. Subban announced his retirement from hockey on Tuesday. “The end of this chapter is closing and after 13 years in the NHL, I have made the decision to retire,” wrote Subban in a statement posted to Twitter.

Subban retires after 13 seasons in the NHL, with 115 goals, 352 assists, and 467 points in 834 games for the Montreal Canadiens, Nashville Predators, and New Jersey Devils.
