Habs Rookie Camp

It’s being reported by Marc Antoine Godin that Canadiens rookie camp will start on September 15th. That’s ten days later than the start date for the last time the camp was held: September 5th in 2019.

And rather than a tournament format as has been the case in the past with the Canadiens playing rookies from the Ottawa Senators and Winnipeg Jets as they did in 2019, the Habs players will train on their own although there may be a tune up game or two in the schedule.

Canadiens Training Camp

The Montreal Canadiens training camp will begin on Wednesday September 22nd, one day after the team’s annual golf tournament. That’s just a few days in advance of their first exhibition game on September 25th in Toronto against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The full Canadiens pre-season schedule can be found here.

Lions Pre-Camp

The Trois-Rivieres Lions, the ECHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens, is getting ready for its inaugural season. From September 12 to 14th, the Lions will hold a pre-camp for providing invited players from USport, LNAH and the QMJHL an opportunity to make the Lions first official training camp.

Gus Signs With Kraken

After three seasons with the Canadiens, Gustav Olofsson has signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Seattle Kraken. The 26-year-old defenceman played three games with the Canadiens and 83 games with the Laval Rocket during his tenure with the organization. Last season, Olofsson was named an alternate captain with the Rocket.

“Gustav is a smart, two-way defenseman,” said Seattle general manager Ron Francis. “We believe his size and willingness to play with physicality matches the style we want to play and are happy he is joining our blue line.”

The Canadiens had acquired Olofsson on October 3, 2018 from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for forward Will Bitten.
