With the Christmas holiday arriving this week, the Canadiens had just one game to play before heading home to spend time with family.  Tuesday night brought the Habs to Long Island for a matchup against the New York Islanders.  The first period looked pretty much the same as it has all year: lackluster and uninspired.  But Andrei Markov, playing in his 800th regular season NHL game, got his team on the board in the second period.  Brendan Gallagher put the Canadiens in the lead with an even-strength goal just a few minutes later.  With just over a minute remaining in the game, David Desharnais sealed the win.  Final score: Canadiens, 3-1. The Canadiens have four games to look forward to this week, all of which take place on the road while the Bell Centre plays host to the World Junior Championship. The Habs take the ice Monday night against the Carolina Hurricanes.  Until then, we’ve got plenty of content to keep you busy reading about your favourite team!
