Canadiens.com: Ready for primetime

Habster’s take:

Anyone who was at the Canadiens development camp could tell you that Mathieu Carle can shot the puck as hard or harder than any prospect at the camp. He critiques himself as having to work on his skating but he has greatly improved that part of his game since I saw him last season when the Habs made him their third selection (2nd round-#53). The only think that Carle has to work harder at is paying more attention to his defensive zone coverage as he like to go on the offensive attack often (GP-63 G-16 A-54 PT- 70). He started to display more of a two way game when he was traded to the Rouyn-Noranda where coach Andre Tourigny emphasises a strong defensive system. I’m a strong believer that you can teach an offensively gifted/skilled player how to play defense as opposed to the other way around.
Mathieu Carle will most certainly start his professional career with the Hamilton Bulldogs but he will still need to impress the Canadiens coaching staff at training camp and in Hamilton for possible call ups during the NHL season.
