19 Players Cut from Canadiens Training Camp

BROSSARD, QC – The Montreal Canadiens announced their first major round of roster cuts from training camp early on Friday. The cuts come hours before the team is set to face off in a preseason game against the Senators in Ottawa. The team split their first two preseason games with a loss in Toronto and a victory on home ice against the Leafs.

A total of 19 players were sent to the Laval Rocket (AHL), in advance of the American League affiliate’s training camp.

NHL Contracts

Two players, defensemen Louie Belpedio and Laval captain Xavier Ouellet, were put on waivers on Thursday, September 30. If they clear waivers today, they’ll head to Laval.

Other players on NHL contracts who were cut include:

  • Josh Brook
  • Cam Hillis
  • Arsen Khisamutdinov
  • Joel Teasdale

AHL Contracts

Additionally, the Canadiens assigned 13 players currently on AHL contracts to the Rocket:

  • Cedric Desruisseaux (F)
  • Justin Ducharme (F)
  • Brandon Gignac (F)
  • Cody Goloubef (D)
  • Alexis Gravel (G)
  • Jake Lucchini (F)
  • Carl Neill (D)
  • Shawn St. Amant (F)
  • Kevin Roy (F)
