Habs News | Canadiens Goaltender Carey Price Named Molson Cup Player of the Year

MONTREAL, QC. — In a ceremony prior to Saturday’s game at the Bell Centre, Canadiens goaltender Carey Price was named Molson Cup Player of the Year. This is the eighth time in his career he has won this award.

It was also announced that Price was the monthly Molson Cup winner for March – April. In addition, he earned the award for the month of January.

The Anahim Lake native finished the season with a 35-24-6 record in 66 games played. He recorded a 2.49 goals against average and a .918 save percentage while leading the league in minutes played for goaltenders with 3880:15.

He finished second in games played and saves while finishing fourth in wins.  Price played his 600th game on February 9th versus the Toronto Maple Leafs and also became the winningest goalie in franchise history passing Jacques Plante (315) on March 12th versus the Detroit Red Wings.

For the months of March and April he posted a record of 9-6-1 with a 2.40 goals against average and .918 save percentage.

Price was the clear choice, well ahead of Max Domi and Tomas Tatar for the honor.
