All Habs Headlines: Monday March 26, 2012

COUNTDOWN TO GAMEDAY: All Habs Headlines

Ellis wins Kevin Lowe Trophy: Saturday’s pre-game ceremonies saw the Shawinigan Cataractes awarded with the Robert-Lebel Trophy, given to the team in the QMJHL with the lowest goals against average in the regular season. It also saw Canadiens’ defensive prospect Morgan Ellis win the Kevin-Lowe trophy, awarded to the best defensive defenceman of the league. Ellis would go on to record two assists in the game against Rouyn-Noranda, to add to the assist and two goals he scored in Game One.

CHL playoff tracker: Ellis isn’t the only one racking up points in the postseason. His teammate, Michaël Bournival, has a goal and two assists in two games.  Nathan Beaulieu has two goals, three assists in two games, and is +8 over that span. Over in the west, Brendan Gallagher has a whopping seven points in two playoff games so far while Darren Dietz, with one assist in Medicine Hat’s first postseason game, awaits a possible suspension for slashing Emerson Etem, a decision that’s expected to go down today.

Nailers sold: The Wheeling Nailers, the ECHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens and Pittsburgh Penguins has been purchased by an economic development group headed by Don Rigby in the West Virginia region.  The deal reportedly was signed on March 23 — the Nailers have been for sale since late January.
