Journal de Montreal: Matt D’Agostini en met plein la vue

After Sergei Kostitsyn, Matt D’Agostini is the next most versatile forward that the Canadiens have in the system. He is lightning quick and is known for his endurance. He can kill penalties, score on the powerplay and is very good with 5 on 5 situations (something the Habs had difficulties with last season). Not bad for a 6th round selection (#190) in the 2005 NHL draft.

It is truly amazing to see how many great prospects the Montreal Canadiens have drafted in the last 5-6 years. The organization has come a long way since the Rejean Houle era when the Habs had trouble filling an AHL team roster with players. I can recall many times when the Canadiens were unable to effectively replace injured NHL players with AHL players due to the lack of talent on the farm( the above photo is the ever famous and great prospect named Matt Higgins (no relation to Chris, both in talent and blood!!!) who Rejean Houle wasted a 1st round pick (#18) on in the 1996 NHL draft).

Take a look at some of the Canadiens AHL affiliate team rosters from the Quebec Citadelles(courtesy of Hockey Data Base) to see my point:

Need I say more Hab fans!!!!! Pretty brutal, wouldn’t you agree!!! We’ve come a long way baby!!
