Canadian Press is reporting that the blue-line spot of Mathieu Dandenault could be in jeopardy. On Tuesday, head coach Guy Carbonneau listed Dandenault among a number of defencemen fighting for a spot on the roster. The list includes Ryan O’Byrne, Jean-Philippe Côté, Jamie Rivers and Josh Gorges.
Dandenault is a great skater but has never been very physical for his size (6’1″ 205lbs). If Ryan O’Byrne or Josh Gorges can outperform him in training camp and Gainey can find a taker for Dandenault (and the remaining 2 years/ $3.5 million contract), then anything can happen.
