    Habster’s take:

Allan Muir makes some great points about the goaltending logjam that exists in the Habs system. Something will have to give eventually, whether it’s trading Huet, Halak or Danis. I would think that trading Huet at this point in the preseason would be ill advised and difficult to accomplish with his salary. I would be surprised if Huet finished the season with the Canadiens unless he’s having an outstanding season and the team is still in the hunt for a playoff spot. Let’s not forget that Mr. Huet will be a UFA at season’s end and Gainey will not be re-signing him with Carey Price waiting in the wings.
Yann Danis will have to pass through waivers before he can report to Hamilton which will be difficult with a few teams certainly being interested in his services (trading him is a better option but it doesn’t really solve the goaltending logjam). There have been rumours that San Jose is interested in Jaroslav Halak but I would be very hesitant to give up on Halak at this point in his young career. Unless Bob Gainey can get another player of value in a trade who will contribute to the current Canadiens roster, then trading Halak doesn’t make any sense.
So the goaltending plot will thicken as the season continues with Bob Gainey having a lot of options at his disposal. Interesting times, I do think!!?? (Gheez!! I sound like Yoda!!).
