Here is the latest lineup changes according to CTV’s Brian Wilde who just recently spoke on the Team 990.
Forwards
Kovalev/Plekanec/Higgins (an interesting combination)
Kostitsyn/Grabovski/Ryder (Does Grabovski truly deserve this opportunity?)
Smolinski/Koivu/Streit (Koivu on the third line????)
Latendresse/Chipchura/Dandenault (nothing earth shattering here)
Defense:
Hamrlik/Komisarek (this change has more to do with Markov’s injury than anything else)
Markov/Brisebois
Gorges/Bouillon
Goalie: Huet
I understand that the lineup needs some tweaking but this is a bit extreme though I think we have to put it into some perspective. Carbo will make alteration as the game moves along (including re-uniting the 1st and 2nd lines) but how does a proud player like Saku Koivu feel about starting the game with a 5th or 6th defenseman and being moved down to the “3rd” line. Carbonneau is pulling a Scotty Bowman and trying to light a fire under his players with these crazy changes!!!!
