Habster’s take:
I have to admit being a bit surprised by Tomas Plekanec’s great second half last season. With that being said, Canadiens fans have seen what Plekanec can do when he is given the ice time so I fully expect Plekanec to eclipse his 47 points from last season. It shouldn’t be hard to achieve as Plekanec was the most consistent point producer in the second half of the season with 35 points (G-17 A-18) in the final 44 games. That’s a .8 point clip per game and would result in a 66 point season over 82 games which would be a solid improvement over last year for Mr. Plekanec.
I just hope Guy Carbonneau gives Plekanec two solid wingers to play with who will be able to keep pace with his speed and creativity. I thought the trio of Higgins/Plekanec/A.Kostitsyn were the best line during the late playoff run. Here’s hoping Tomas Plekanec can continue his solid play and give Carbonneau a solid second offensive line center to compliment Saku Koivu.
GO PLEKY GO!!!!!
