MONCTON, NB. — So far this season, the Montreal Canadiens have played eleven games and have a record of six wins, four losses and one overtime/shootout loss. They’re currently ranked seventh in the Eastern Conference with 13 points.

Players to Watch for the Week of February 10 to February 16, 2013

The Canadiens will play three games during the week of Sunday, February 10 to Saturday, February 16, 2013. Before the Canadiens lost 6-0 to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday, February 9th, there were three players who were on point streaks:

P.K. Subban
Prior to their game against Toronto, Subban was on a four-game point streak (two goals, two assists). In fact, his four-game point streak was also Subban’s first four games of the regular season. His season began late due to contract negotiations, but like they say, better late than never.

Andrei Markov
Prior to Saturday’s game, Markov was on a two-game point streak (two assists). He is currently ranked second among all Canadiens with 10 points (four goals, six assists) in 11 games. He is, however, leading his team with four power play goals and three game-winning goals.

Tomas Plekanec
Before Saturday’s game against Toronto, Plekanec was also on a two-game point streak (two goals, one assist). Plekanec is currently leading his team with 10 points (six goals, four assists) in 11 games. He is also leading the Canadiens with 34 shots on goal.

Only two of Montreal’s seven goals this past week were scored on the power play. In regards to their penalty killing, four goals scored against them this week were while they were a man down.

Tuesday, February 12th – Montreal Canadiens at Tampa Bay Lightning
This will be the first time this season the Canadiens and Lightning will face each other. They played each other four times last season with both teams winning twice. Last season against the Lightning, David Desharnais and Max Pacioretty each recorded six points, while Erik Cole tallied five.

Max-PaciorettyThursday, February 14th – Montreal Canadiens at Florida Panthers
The Canadiens and Panthers faced each other once so far this season with the Canadiens winning that game 4-1. Andrei Markov scored twice that game, while Raphael Diaz and Max Pacioretty each recorded two assists.

Saturday, February 16th – Philadelphia Flyers at Montreal Canadiens
This will be the first time this season the Canadiens and Flyers will play each other. They faced each other four times last season with Philadelphia taking three of those games. Last season against the Flyers, Max Pacioretty recorded five points and David Desharnais earned four.
